DJ-influencer charges fiancé before NBI

Mark Ernest Villeza - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Disc jockey and influencer Jellie Aw charged her fiancé Jam Ignacio yesterday with assault before the National Bureau of Investigation.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said agents were pursuing Ignacio and working to locate him “so he can answer for his crime.”

“I asked her, ‘If he kneels in front of you, will you forgive him?’ She said no. She wants to teach him a lesson and have him jailed,” Santiago said in Filipino during a press briefing at the NBI headquarters in Pasay.

Aw filed the complaint after photos of her bloodied and bruised face circulated online, drawing widespread attention.

The incident allegedly occurred following an argument with Ignacio inside a vehicle.

Reports indicate that the physical assault stopped when the vehicle entered an NLEX tollgate, where Aw was able to call for help.

Personnel at the tollgate assisted Aw in returning to Quezon City, while Ignacio fled the scene.

“Don’t allow yourselves to be abused by your boyfriends. There’s no such thing as ‘I love you forever’ if he is already hurting you. If he abuses you, he no longer loves you because no man should ever hurt a woman,” Santiago said as he urged abuse victims to come forward and not tolerate mistreatment in relationships.
