MANILA, Philippines — Up to 677,658 household beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program have attained self-sufficiency since the 4Ps was institutionalized in 2019, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said households that have been assessed as self-sufficient now have the capacity to provide for the family’s basic needs.

Dumlao said these households have stable income generated from either a permanent job or small business as well as the capability to send the children to school.

“These household beneficiries are prepared to protect their families from sliding back to poverty,” Dumlao said.

She said that as a human capital development program, the 4Ps was able to help more than one million youth graduate from high school.

Dumlao said up to 476,289 elementary school children from 4Ps household beneficiaries have graduated as of December 2024.

Close to 40,000 former 4Ps beneficiaries are board passers, including 65 who topped licensure examinations.

Dumlao said this achievement is proof that the combined efforts of the DSWD and 4Ps grantees in prioritizing education and health of children is effective.

“The household cash grants or 4Ps was able to address challenges that prevent children from going to school, such as the lack of food and money as well as poor health conditions,” Dumlao said.

Congress, however, cut the 4Ps funding for 2025 by P50 billion.
