Quezon City cops arrest 218 in anti-crime drive

MANILA, Philippines — A weeklong crackdown on illegal drugs and other crimes by the Quezon City Police District resulted in the arrest of 218 people, the QCPD reported over the weekend.
The operations conducted from Feb. 2 to 8 led to the apprehension of 64 fugitives, 74 gamblers, 75 drug suspects and five others for illegal possession of firearms.
Police also confiscated over P2 million worth of illegal drugs during the period.
As part of its campaign against fugitives, the QCPD apprehended 29 people listed as most wanted and 35 classified as other wanted persons.
To address the proliferation of loose firearms, five operations were carried out, resulting in the recovery of five guns with expired licenses and the arrest of five suspects.
