MANILA, Philippines — A former mayor in Cateel, Davao Oriental was gunned down in Barangay Buhain in Davao City on Tuesday.
Giselo Castillones was in his vehicle parked in front of a fast food restaurant when he was shot.
A police report said an unidentified man approached the vehicle and shot Castillones several times.
The gunman fled on a motorcycle.
The driver of Castillones, Junie Castro, was taken to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment.
Their companion Alma Lozentes, a businesswoman, was also wounded.
In Cavite, two security guards at the Adventist University of the Philippines in Barangay Puting Kahoy in Silang were gunned down while manning the main gate of the campus at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
A motorcycle rider reportedly shot Marlon Pilinio and Ron Aldrin Siosa, Vice Mayor Edward Carranza said, citing the accounts of witnesses.
The two were declared dead on arrival at the university’s infirmary clinic.
Carranza, a former Calabarzon police director, said police have identified a person of interest in the killing.
He urged those with information about the killer to contact the police. – Emmanuel Tupas
