MANILA, Philippines — A Taiwanese woman was rescued from seven alleged kidnappers in Barangay Potrero, Malabon on Sunday, according to police.
Hui Xin Wang, 35, of Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, was reportedly kidnapped by the suspects in Malate, Manila on Aug. 14.
Two of the suspects – Ma Pun Xin, 36, and Zheng Xi Lin, 34 – were apprehended by police.
Wang told probers that she was blindfolded as she was brought to a house in Barangay Potrero, Malabon.
On Aug. 18, the victim said she was sexually assaulted twice by the suspects’ alleged leader Eric Liu.
Wang said the suspects forced her to transfer money amounting to $124,233 or about P7 million through online banking.
Malabon police chief Col. Jonathan Tangonan told The STAR the suspects are being held on charges of kidnapping.
Police have launched a manhunt for the other suspects.
