MANILA, Philippines — A 48-year-old woman was injured and 23 families were displaced in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Las Piñas yesterday.
In a report, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire along Melon street in Barangay Talon Uno started at around 2:15 a.m. and reached third alarm.
The BFP identified the injured victim as Cecilia Eram, who was treated by first aid responders for abrasions on her right knee.
Firefighters doused the flames at around 6:23 a.m.
Barangay captain Miling Ramos said in a phone interview that 17 houses and a junk shop were destroyed in the blaze.
The affected residents were relocated to a covered court, where shelter tents were put up.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
