Guard hurt in accidental shooting

MANILA, Philippines — A security guard was injured after he accidentally shot himself with his firearm at the main gate of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) branch in Quezon City yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Alexander Concepcion, 45, who is recuperating from his injury at the East Avenue Medical Center.

The incident occurred at the GSIS Quezon City branch along Elliptical Road in Barangay Old Capitol Site at around 7:45 a.m., probers said.

The other security guards brought Concepcion to the hospital, where he will undergo surgery.

Police officers from the Anonas police station are conducting a follow-up investigation on the incident.
