P9.89 million drugs seized at NAIA

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives intercepted a parcel that contained P9.89 million worth of illegal drugs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) complex in Pasay City on Friday afternoon.

The package was seized at a warehouse at around 4 p.m., the police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said in a report.

An individual, whom the PDEG did not identify, was apprehended during the operation.

Found inside the parcel were 6.1 kilos of marijuana, 17 milliliters of marijuana liquid and 2,899 ecstasy tablets.

The operation was a joint effort of the NAIA Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group. The PDEG is one of the group’s member agencies.

Meanwhile, around 12 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P81,600 were seized in separate stings in Quezon City on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, Quezon City Police District director, said 10 grams of shabu valued at P68,000 had been confiscated from Maydylie Roxas and Ana Joy Grande in Barangay San Martin de Porres at around 1:30 a.m.
