Parañaque fire: Girl dead, 100 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — A 12-year-old girl died and 100 families were left homeless after a fire broke out in a residential area in Parañaque City on Friday afternoon.

The girl’s corpse was found by firefighters hours after she went missing during the fire at a compound in Barangay Sto. Niño.

A desk officer at the Parañaque fire station said four people were injured during the blaze, two who sustained burns and lacerations and two who were treated for hyperventilation.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire broke out at around 1:57 p.m., destroyed around 50 houses and reached second alarm before it was put out at past 5 p.m.

Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which destroyed around P500,000 worth of property.

The local government provided modular tents and relief goods to residents displaced by the fire.
