Small acts of kindness can defeat evil – Tagle

MANILA, Philippines — Cardinal Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, pro-prefect of the Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization, has reminded the Catholic faithful that even small acts of kindness can be used as tools to defeat evil.

In a homily published in the CBCPNews, the official news service provider of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Tagle urged the people to spread kindness to counter evil and wickedness.

Tagle delivered the homily during mass on Tuesday at the Sta. Maria Goretti Parish Church at the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center in Paco, Manila.

The former Manila archbishop said kindness does not have to be a grand gesture.

“We should not allow evil and wickedness to kill hope and the goodness that we have,” he said. “We start with small acts of kindness.”

Tagle added that small things, when joined together, could be an amazing force for good.

Tagle is currently in Manila to preside over the episcopal ordination of Bishop-elect Pablito Tagura of the Vicar Apostolic of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro today.
