COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A policeman is now detained for allegedly killing with his service pistol a couple in Butuan City on Monday night.
In a statement released to media outfits Tuesday, the Butuan City Police Office identified the victims as Charlie and Mary Anne Añasco. They died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.

The victims were together in a black Toyoto Vios car that had just parked in front of their house when the suspect, Police Master Sgt. Darwin Plaza Nolasco, allegedy approached from behind and repeatedly shot them.
Nolasco is a member of the municipal police force in nearby Dinagat town in Agusan del Sur.
Responding policemen had immediately arrested and disarmed Nolasco, according to the Butuan City police.
News reporters in Butuan City and nearby areas had received text messages alleging Nolasco had an affair with the slain wife of Añasco.
The local police said a final report on the incident shall soon be released to the media.
