Shabu is still considered the most abused drug in the country.

MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a suspected pusher who yielded P109,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Kristoffer Rey Guarino, 36, of Lacas Le Ville, Pasonanca, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Reports showed that last August 9 around 4:15 p.m., elements of PDEA Regional Office 9 staged a buy-bust operation in the vicinity of 36 Valor Street, Barangay Upper Calarian. PDEA agents nabbed Guarino after he sold a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a PDEA agent in exchange for P300.

Authorities seized from Guarino another plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance of suspected shabu, a cigarette pack used as container, a card holder with several identification cards bearing different names, a mobile phone and the buy-bust money used during the operation.

The total weight of shabu seized was more or less 50 grams with an estimated value of P109,000.

Guarino will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
