TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Isabela police director Senior Superintendent Sotero Ramos yesterday ordered an investigation of an alleged human organ syndicate operating in the province that has dragged the name of a reelected municipal mayor.
Ramos said a 15-year-old girl reported to the Cauayan City police that unidentified men kidnapped her on May 12 and held her captive for three days in a warehouse in Barangay Yeban owned by Benito Soliven town Mayor Benjamin Sanglay.
The girl reportedly said three other victims, who were in a jute sack, were in the warehouse with her.
Sanglay denied any knowledge about the kidnapping although he admitted owning the warehouse. He said his detractors were behind the black propaganda against him.
