MANILA, Philippines - Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Deles yesterday welcomed the release from jail of three consultants of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
Deles said courts have dismissed the cases against Jovencio Balweg, Maria Luisa Pucray of Agusan del Norte, and Jaime Soledad of Leyte.
“The government has always maintained its commitment to this peace process. We look at this as a bonus that favorably affects the government’s current negotiations with the NDFP-Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army,” Deles said.
“We are appreciative of the efforts made by other government agencies in this matter,” government peace panel chairman Alexander Padilla said.
