In an interview with The Freeman, Ecleo’s lawyer Orlando Salatandre said no test has yet been administered on Ecleo since he was flown to Manila and admitted to the Makati Medical Center last Thursday.
Salatandre said the doctors attending to Ecleo are still reviewing and assessing his clinical records from Chong Hua Hospital and Perpetual Succor Hospital here before they can recommend what tests he should undergo to determine his exact illness.
Ecleo, who is being tried on parricide charges for his wife’s killing, was initially diagnosed with coronary heart disease and was labeled as a "walking time bomb" by a Cebu doctor.
Ecleo was discharged from the Chong Hua Hospital at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and flown to Manila at noon via Philippine Airlines Flight PR854.
He was released from the hospital and temporarily from court custody after Regional Trial Court Judge Anacleto Caminade affirmed the order of Judge Gene—rosa Labra granting him bail.
Caminade issued Ecleo’s release order past 11 a.m. Wednesday following his denial of the prosecution’s motion for reconsideration of Labra’s order granting Ecleo temporary liberty for P1 million.
Labra handled the parricide case against Ecleo but Caminade took over it last week after Labra decided to inhibit herself from the case. — Freeman News Service
