Special poll sought for Jalosjos’ vacancy

Municipal officials in the first district of Zamboanga del Norte urged the House of Representatives yesterday to call for a special election to determine who will replace convicted Rep. Romeo Jalosjos.

The officials, in a press briefing in Manila, cited reports that the House may just appoint Jalosjos’ successor, expressing apprehension that former Rep. Artemio Adaza, whom they blamed for Jalosjos’ fate, may take his place.

They said the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming Jalosjos’ conviction was an "injustice." — Marvin Sy
