Twin blasts cut off power in Pagadian

ILIGAN CITY — Two homemade bombs went off the other night at the compound of the Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative in Barangay Iguma, Pa-gadian City, cutting off power in the entire city, the military said.

No one was reported injured in the blast that destroyed the electric cooperative’s P7-million powerhouse, said Lt. Gen. Diomedio Villanueva, chief of the military’s Southern Command.

This developed as a cargo truck driver was wounded when a handgrenade exploded at a gasoline station here the other night, police said.

Police said the grenade was hidden under the hood of the cargo truck parked by its driver, Rolando Canoy, at a Caltex gasoline station in Barangay Tubid. Canoy was wounded in the leg.

Authorities suspect that the Moro Islamic Liberation Front was behind the bombings. Lino de la Cruz, Roel Pareño
