MANILA, Philippines - Police investigators have ruled out robbery as a possible motive for the killing of a 63-year-old housewife in an ambush in San Juan City on Thursday.
The handbag and other valuables of Susan Tan Uy were intact, said Chief Inspector Edwin Caracas, head of the Eastern Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
Caracas said they were looking into other motives for the killing.
He said they were coordinating with owners of establishments near the crime scene in hopes that the shooting incident was caught on a closed-circuit television camera.
The STAR learned that Uy had been separated from her husband, who owns a flour mill, for more than 20 years.
The victim’s children promised to cooperate in the police investigation.
Uy and her friend were in a Toyota Rav 4 (PHQ 252) when the back rider of a motorcycle shot the victim at the comer of Wilson street and Ortigas Avenue in Greenhills at around 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 24.
Uy died from a gunshot to the head while being taken to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
Scene of the Crime Operatives lifted four spent shells at the crime scene.
Caracas ordered his men to coordinate with San Juan police chief Senior Superintendent Victor Arevalo in solving Uy’s case.
Arevalo replaced Senior Superintendent Roberto Alanas as officer-in-charge of the San Juan police following the slaying of Uy.
