MANILA, Philippines - A high-pressure pipe burst and flooded Barangay Pamplona Uno in Las Piñas City at past midnight yesterday and sprayed water at least two stories high.
Querubin Mojica, Maynilad spokesperson, said in a statement that the leak along Alabang-Zapote Road was stopped at around 4 a.m. and the flood drained at the same time.
Leak detection officer Christine Acosta told ABS-CBN that a passing vehicle may have accidentally opened a manhole that served to stop the leak, which caused a water supply disruption in Barangays M. Alvarez, Upper Balaraw and Upper Angela.
Another Maynilad spokesperson, Grace Laxa, said in an interview over radio dzBB that a 400-mm pipe connected to a 1,400-mm line burst.
Maynilad has sent six tankers to supply water to barangays whose water supply had been disrupted, Mojica said. She added that they have yet to determine the extent of the damage and the firm’s engineers cannot say yet when repairs will be completed.
