A magnitude 4.8 tectonic earthquake rocked parts of southern Luzon, including Metro Manila, last night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the tremor occurred at 7:04 p.m. with its epicenter traced to a point 35 kilometers northwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.
The quake was felt at intensity 4 in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro; intensity 3 in Puerto Galera and Manila; and intensity 2 in San Nicolas, Batangas and Quezon City.
A movement along the Manila Trench caused the tremor, Phivolcs said, adding that aftershocks are expected. – Helen Flores
