The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has answered the dream of Marikina City police chief Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr. to equip the city’s 16 police community precincts (PCPs) with computers.
Ramos and Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando will receive 20 personal computer sets from Nestor Sarmiento, assistant vice president and head of Meralco’s central distribution services during today’s flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall compound.
The local police will also receive 20 printers, 21 cellular phones and a two-day computer literacy training package.
Ramos joked that Meralco’s donation came as he was about to write the “Wish Ko Lang” television program and ask for the computers.
The donation jived with the project of the Philippine National Police (PNP) since the Marikina City police station is being piloted as a model police station.
“This will definitely boost the administrative capability of the police station,” Ramos said as he thanked Meralco for its generous act.
The Marikina City police station was adjudged as the PNP’s best police station for 2007. – Non Alquitran
