Girl in brief fished out of Manila Bay

A young woman wearing a "playboy" brief and hogtied with aluminum wires was fished out from Manila Bay on Maundy Thursday.

The still unidentified victim was reportedly without any other clothing, except for the male underwear, when discovered by a fisherman about 7 a.m. on the Manila bay side of Vitas, Tondo.

Investigation by the Western Police District (WPD) homicide unit showed a nylon cord was also found looped around the victim’s neck indicating that she may have been strangled. There were no other signs of physical injuries in the body.

Detective Edison Bertoldo, investigator-on-case described the victim to be about 23 years old, 5’1 tall and had an image tattoed on her right forearm resembling the Statue of Liberty in New York.

The body was first spotted by a fisherman, who afterwards reported this to a security guard of the Manila Harbor Center, who in turn reported the matter to the police. The body was brought to a funeral parlor in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Police are studying the possibility that the case of the woman was related to the case of another man earlier fished out of Manila Bay. Jose Aravilla
