Boracay rocks with Spanish band

MANILA, Philippines - Instituto Cervantes de Manila brings the Spanish pop-rock group El Columpio Asesino on May 8 and 9 to the Boracay Ecovillage Convention Center.

Authentic is the best way to describe this Pamplona-based group as it is identified today as one of the most exceptional bands in the Spanish Independent music scene.

Formed in 1999, the band is composed of Rafael Angulo Torres, Alvaro Arizaleta Urra, Raúl Arizaleta Urra, Ma. Cristina Martínez Lana, Iñigo Sola Aranda, Marcos Tantos Arriaga, and Roberto Urzaet Martos.The group appeared in 2001 after winning several contests, such as the first prestigious edition of “Demo” — organized by FIB (Festival Internacional de Benicassism) and RNE/Radio 3.

With their latest album, “La Gallina” (2008), the guys from El Columpio Asesino have come up with a record that provides a new way of understanding Spanish Pop-Rock without losing their unique style. And with their mixture of electronic music, punk spirit, melody, power and pop, the guys will certainly draw its audience into a world unlike any other.
