New hotel suite-style seating debuts in Asiana

OZ First Suite is now available on Asiana Airlines’ B777-200ER aircraft on the Incheon-Chicago, Incheon-Narita and Incheon-Ho Chi Minh routes.

MANILA, Philippines - Asiana Airlines (OZ), winner of the Best Airline in Asia from the Skytrax World Airline Awards, has announced that it has upgraded its first class seating to a new style that recreates a hotel suite stay.

OZ First Suite is Asiana Airlines’ new first class brand, and is now available on B777-200ER aircraft used on the Incheon-Chicago, Incheon-Narita and Incheon-Ho Chi Minh routes.

OZ First Suite is the first of its kind among Korean carriers and features a dedicated sliding door for each seat to maximize in-flight privacy.  An opening helps maintain air freshness in this space.

At the armrest is a LCD Seat Function Control Unit to control seat movement and lighting on its touch screen, plus a “Do Not Disturb” button for the passenger to concentrate on personal work or relaxation.

The space also holds a mini-bar and a personal cabinet for important documents or a laptop.

OZ First Suite also boasts of the world’s largest 32-inch, high-definition in-flight personal monitor for optimal visual quality at a lying distance of 2.1 meters. The passenger can lie back and enjoy a truly cinematic viewing experience.

The Mood Light adapts to different periods of take-off, mealtime, sleep and rest, and the new Star Light feature provides a unique experience of falling asleep comfortably while watching the night sky.

A supplementary chair across the seat will also allow a passenger to have a face-to-face meal on a dining table open for the convenience of a travelling couple.

Two-person seats located at the center of the cabin feature a separator that can be lowered, allowing the passenger to talk to the adjacent passenger.

“We believe that the focal point of premium seats is the procurement of privacy. To that end, Asiana has introduced OZ Quadra Smartium and OZ First Suite to complete our roadmap of strengthening the competitiveness of our fleet,” said Young-Doo Yoon, Asiana Airlines president.

OZ Quadra Smartium is the unique zigzagged layout for its Business Class cabin on the B777-200ER.

The seating boasts of four benefits:  a full flat bed-type seat that goes down 180 degrees; more privacy with space like a small office area with more personal storage, USB ports and power outlets; direct access without disturbing other passengers around; and a spacious staggered layout.

Asiana will invest in equipping its other aircraft with OZ First Suite, and will also increase the number of aircraft with OZ Quadra Smartium from four to eight by 2013.

Asiana flies from Manila, Clark and Cebu to Incheon-Chicago four times a week. It also flies to Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and Honolulu from the Incheon International Airport, and also serves routes across Asia and Europe.
