The Company

MANILA, Philippines - Joining Valdes in his Project Raincloud footpath are the following young artistes, who also think that maybe, just maybe, it’s time to shake the ‘90s kids up.

Leeroy New

Crafting three-dimensional solo exhibits may be a tad bit murderous, but Jan Leeroy New spews them for breakfast. His installation artworks have been nothing less than for public display, i.e., Singapore Biennale, Fukuoka Triennial. Amid this, New has a thing for molding Philippine culture that makes his compositions pretty exciting. Just visit Ateneo Art Gallery which, as of this writing, has his very folk “Balete” — a reinvention of the ancient tree through cable lines — exhibited.

Marc Abaya

Yes, he’s in the cast. The versatile Marc Abaya is going to play a tattooed punk monk in Dagim, enough to surpass his acting stint in Ligaw na Bulaklak which he did a while back opposite Roxanne Guinoo. The Sandwich frontman is set to play a very complex character in the film who gets really personal with the film’s heroes Jun and Diego.

Andrew Drilon

RAN Online’s very own Andrew Drilon, having been published in Philippine Speculative Fiction IV: Literature of the Fantastic (2009), and a recipient of the Neil Gaiman Philippine Graphic/Fiction Award for comics, might be the next Mars Ravelo in the making. He is a speculative-fiction-manic man who, with additional help from Nelz Yumul (WeeWillDoodle.com), is materializing his first graphic novel in Black Clouds.

Precious Medina

With a brief commencement recently, Precious Medina now sparks with her advertisement, television, newspaper and magazine stints for her mastery in the solemn art of makeup. Apart from these media stepping stones, Medina has solidly worked with Rico Gutierrez in the Diablo episode of Shake, Rattle and Roll XI (2009) and subsequently won Best Makeup for the same film in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

Dawn Dizon

Completing the Ocean’s Eleven ensemble of the Project is Dawn Dizon. Most prominent as the production manager of Ploning and other rock music videos, Dizon is the headmistress-in-charge for Dagim.
