MANILA, Philippines - The South African Embassy collaborated with Emperors Palace (a member of the Peermont Group) that was lent three of its chefs and front office manager. They were flown to Manila courtesy of Etihad Airways. Besides the South African wine brands available in the local market, wines brands were flown in from Hildenbrand Wines and Olive Estate and Orange River Cellars. In addition, Aspen Pharmacare Philippines, South African Airways and Gold Fields Philippines sponsored the event.
Authentic ingredients for the South African cuisine, such as mielie-meal, biltong and samp, were flown in for this event. The young chefs prepared enjoyable meals for hundreds of guests.
Guests were also served South African wine brands available locally like KWV, Nederburg, Douglas Green, Table Mountain, La Capra, Tall Horse, Porcupine Ridge, and Goats Do Roam.
The live music of Baby M, directed by Pasit Foobunma, had her singing songs and doing gumboot dancing to the delight of the guests.
