Posh Nails now open to franchising

MANILA, Philippines - Business opportunities may be found in the most unlikely places. This was manifested in the case of 29-year-old entrepreneur Cat Ilacad, youngest daughter of OctoArts head honcho Orly Ilacad.

According to Cat, “I love going to spas. But a few years ago, I got a severe toe infection from a spa I visited. This led to surgery and removal of a toenail. I somehow got a phobia from that previous experience so I decided to open a salon where people can enjoy the best hand and foot pampering. I quit working for our family business, Virgin Café and OctoArts, and opened Posh Nails.”

Fast forward to today, Posh Nails is considered a leading specialist in nail care and enhancement. Its menu of services has expanded from the standard hand and foot care to include relaxing and beautifying treatments such as hand spa, hand and arm scrub, foot scrub, foot and leg mask, foot spa, reflexology, paraffin dip, and waxing. It also introduced eyelash extensions, hand and foot microdermabrasion, coffee or green tea manicure/pedicure from one of the world’s best nail care specialists — OPI, black paraffin and Brazilian wax. The salon counts showbiz celebrities as its regular clients.

Given the success of this venture, Cat decided to open Posh Nails to franchising. “I wanted to share with others the fulfillment I get, not only financially but emotionally as well. It is a very rewarding experience to have your own business, pursue your passion, and empower yourself as an entrepreneur,” she says.

Today, Posh Nails has branches at Tomas Morato, Quezon City; Greenhills; SM Megamall; The Venice at The Fort; and SM Fairview. Opening this December is its store in Ali Mall.

Posh Nails’ first franchisees are female and all were customers of the salon first  before they bought a franchise.

Cat believes that the market is ripe for more Posh Nails outlets. She invites everyone who is interested, men and women alike, to be Posh Nails franchisees. “It is a profitable business with good marketing support and we work very closely with our franchised store owners. We train our people well and have a strong customer base,” she points out.
