MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos can enjoy free rides on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Lines 1 and 2 (LRT-1 and 2) from April 30 to May 3 in celebration of Labor Day, President Marcos announced yesterday.

“I have ordered free rides on MRT-3, LRT-1 and LRT-2 as a small tribute to our workers this Labor Day,” Marcos said in a video message in Filipino.

The President described the initiative as a token of gratitude for the dedication and sacrifices of Filipino workers, acknowledging their vital role in driving economic growth and social development.

“This is a small recognition of the sacrifice and the contribution of our workers not only to our economy but also to our society. Happy Labor Day!” he said.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the free rides will be available all day throughout the four-day period.

“The Department of Transportation and rail operators are expected to implement the directive, ensuring smooth and safe rides for workers during the four-day period,” it said.

“This year’s Labor Day celebrations highlight the government’s ongoing commitment to improve the lives of Filipino workers through support programs, wage reforms and inclusive economic growth,” the agency said.
