15 areas face danger level heat index

MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen areas across the Philippines are expected to experience dangerously high heat index levels ranging from 42 to 44 degrees Celsius today, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its heat index monitoring, PAGASA classified these areas under the “danger” category, indicating that residents are at increased risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion and even heat stroke with prolonged exposure or strenuous outdoor activities.
The following areas are predicted to reach “danger” level heat indices: Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, Echague in Isabela, Iba in Zambales, Olongapo City, San Ildefonso in Bulacan, Camiling in Tarlac, Masbate City, Roxas City in Capiz, Iloilo City, Panglao in Bohol, Dipolog in Zamboanga del Norte and Davao City – all of which are expected to experience temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius.
In addition, Sangley Point in Cavite City is forecast to reach 43 degrees Celsius, while Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Virac in Catanduanes are also expected to experience a heat index of 43 degrees Celsius.
