MANILA, Philippines — Religious leader Apollo Quiboloy was brought to the Philippine Heart Center yesterday for the start of his extended medical furlough.
The Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder arrived at the hospital in Quezon City at around 7:35 a.m., according to Philippine National Police (PNP) public information officer Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo.
Quiboloy left his detention cell at the PNP Custodial Center under heavy security.
“He is expected to be back by 4 p.m. of Nov. 27 pursuant to the order issued by the court,” Fajardo said in a message on Viber.
The Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159 on Friday granted Quiboloy’s request for an extension of his medical furlough for treatment for an infection from the pastor’s dental implants.
Quiboloy’s counsel Israelito Torreon said discussions between prosecution and defense lawyers were intense but the court approved the request.
Apart from a dental examination Quiboloy will also undergo other medical tests.
The court previously granted a medical furlough for Quiboloy after an examination by doctors at the PNP General Hospital showed he has an irregular heartbeat.
Quiboloy is facing a qualified human trafficking case before the Pasig RTC. A child abuse charge was also filed against him at a Quezon City court.
