Monsoon rains expected over Metro Manila, 13 provinces

Parts of Luzon and the Western Visayas will experience monsoon rains.

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Henry, which is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday, has made landfall over Dalupiri island in Cagayan and is heading towards the West Philippine Sea.

According to the PAGASA Severe Weather Bulletin issued early Tuesday morning, "Henry" was 95 km west of Calayan, Cagayan and moving west northwest at 20 kph.
The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 60 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 is still hoisted over the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • Northern portion of Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands
  • Northern portion of Apayao
  • Northern portion of Ilocos Norte

Occasional rains with gusty winds in these places.

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, will also bring monsoons rains over the following areas:

  • Metro Manila
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Mindoro Provinces
  • Palawan
  • Western Visayas

Scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms can be expected over the rest of the country.

PAGASA is also monitoring a low pressure area 825 km east of Infanta, Quezon that could develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours.
