Raincoats in color of the Vatican

MANILA, Philippines – The yellow raincoats worn by Pope Francis and other government personnel in Tacloban City during the rainy papal visit there yesterday was issued by the Archdiocese of Palo, according to Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman.

Soliman made the statement yesterday after papal visit watchers became curious over the color of the raincoats because they expected it to be clear or transparent, in line with the tight security measures that were instituted by organizers from the Catholic church.

“That was given by the church, together with the province. There were around one million that were issued,” Soliman told The STAR.

She added that they find nothing strange with the color of the raincoats.

“As far as I know, yellow is the color of the Vatican, right?” she said.

“The flag of the Vatican is colored yellow and white.”

In the Philippines, the yellow color is associated with President Aquino.
