Losing his patience on the alleged "ineptitude" of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to act on perennial flooding in the Metropolis, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Jejomar Binay urged yesterday all mayors in Metro Manila to intensify anti-flooding operations.
Binay, who also chairs the Metro Manila Disaster Coordinating Council (MMDCC), said that close coordination between the MMDA and the LGUs will lead to solution of flooding problems in the Metropolis.
"Coordination of efforts to mitigate the effects of floodings in Metro Manila is of utmost importance. I told participants of the conference that this will not be the last time we will meet to assess and act on situations like this," Binay, who earlier convened a meeting with LGUs rescue and rehabilitation representatives, said.
Earlier, MMDA General Manager Violeta Seva pointed an accusing finger at the failure of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control management program. --
