PAGASA says Typhoon Chedeng continues to keep its strength as it accelerates north northeastward over the Philippine Sea.

In a bulletin issued at 5 p.m. Saturday, PAGASA says Chedeng was last located 870 kilometers east of northern extreme Luzon.

Chedeng was moving north northeastward at 20 kilometers per hour. It has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Typhoon Chedeng keeps its strength while moving northward slowly over the Philippine Sea, according to PAGASA.

Based on its 11 a.m. advisory on Saturday, the center of the eye of the typhoon was found 880 kilometers east of northern Luzon or 840 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

PAGASA says Typhoon Chedeng intensifies in the middle of the Philippine Sea. 

As of 5 a.m. Saturday, the center of the eye was spotted 875 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

Moving slowly north northwestward, it has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

“Chedeng” has intensified into typhoon category as it continues to move northwestward over the Philippine sea, state weather bureau PAGASA says in its 5:00 p.m. bulletin.

Even as it strengthens, Chedeng is “unlikely to directly bring heavy rainfall over any portion of the country in the next [three to five days],” PAGASA adds.

State weather bureau PAGASA says in its 11:00 a.m. bulletin that the low pressure area in the waters near Eastern Visayas has developed into Tropical Depression Chedeng.

Chedeng is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph. As of Tuesday morning, the tropical depression is “almost stationary.”

“Tropical Depression Chedeng is forecast to remain far from the Philippine landmass. As such, it is unlikely to bring heavy rainfall over any portion of the country in the next [three to five] days,” it adds.
