Celebs dare to do more with BBM

MANILA, Philippines - Celebrities are among the most vocal and loyal fans of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), the messaging platform with unlimited messaging, group chat, and photo sharing features exclusive among BlackBerry users. With all the fun and productivity that BBM has enabled them to have, some of the country’s hot young stars have been spreading BBM love last month.

Media and bloggers were invited by RIM, the company behind BlackBerry, to discover firsthand what BBM was all about in the event hosted by Boys Night Out DJ Sam Gogna (better known as Sam YG). The celebs that showed up at the event shared how BBM enriched if not brightened up their personal and professional lives.

Isabelle Daza, a BBM user for almost four years, values BBM very much. She says that “it’s all about contacting my family abroad with ease.” Isabelle recalls, “While I was in Europe a few years back, my younger sister sent me a voice note of her singing. It made me feel better because I was missing her so much.”

On a more comedic note, Sam recalls that his funniest BBM memory is “receiving a photo via BBM, while caught up in traffic, of a friend who was asleep with saliva dripping all over his cheeks as it gave me a good laugh during a rather stressful situation.”

BBM fever also reached Trinoma with the Dare to Do More: Experience BlackBerry Messenger mall event, which was also attended by BBM guest ambassadors.

Solenn Heussaff, a BBM user for almost five years now, loves the unlimited group messaging feature. “I love BBM because of group chat. I can talk to 10 to 15 of my friends all at once while keeping everyone else updated at the same time.”

For Marvin Kiefer, “BBM is easy to use. My friends were telling me to go BlackBerry na lang. It’s easier to chat and it’s free. I tried it out and I liked it!”

Divine Lee, a loyal BBM fan for over seven years, laughed about how her boyfriend, Victor Basa, would call BBM her other boyfriend. “I can’t live without it and I can’t let go of my BBM groups,” she said.

With BBM-only plans for as low as P99 a month, BBM is now more accessible than ever. You can also jump on the BBM bandwagon by joining BlackBerry Pilipinas’ photo contest Express Yourself with BBM running on the Facebook fan page (http://www.facebook.com/BlackBerryPH). All you need to do is to upload an original and creative photo of yourself with a BBM speech bubble for a chance to win a BlackBerry smartphone.
