Ernie Garcia: Once a singer...
Ernie Garcia has proven his acting mettle in television, movies and theater.
He has awards to show for it: 1988 Aliw Best Actor for his performance in Rolando Tinio’s Filipino translation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and 1989 Best Supporting Actor for Bukas Sisikat Din Ang Araw (directed by Mitos Villareal) from the FAMAS and PMPC Star Awards For Movies.
But Ernie’s heart is really in singing. In fact, he started in showbiz as a recording artist for Zodiac Recording Company for which he waxed Wonderful You and Make Believe, both composed by Danny Subido.
Ernie the singer is back in the Valentine concert Ernie Garcia Loving You! set for Feb. 12 (show follows after the 6 p.m. cocktails) at the grand ballroom of Eastwood Richmond Hotel (Libis, Quezon City), with Mark Carpio as special guest. Dancing follows.
The concert is directed by Rey Carpio who is co-producing it with Grand Monaco Estate Developers, Inc. Freddie Santos is the stage director and Jocel Reyes is the director, with Without Warming providing the musical accompaniment.
Stars support BIR campaign
In line with its mandate to collect internal revenue taxes to support nation-building, Revenue Region (RR) No. 7, Quezon City formally launches its massive tax campaign for taxable year 2011 tomorrow, Feb. 8, at TriNoma Activity Center, Quezon City, to jumpstart its drive for higher revenue collections and help BIR meet its collection goal of P940B for this year.
This year’s tax campaign theme is Buwis Mo Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas. The theme is aligned with Pres. Noynoy Aquino’s thrust of creating a better life for Filipinos with the collection of enough taxes serving as essential building blocks of nation-building.
John Lloyd Cruz, KC Concepcion, Rachelle Ann Go, Kyla and Jaya are among the stars taking part in the event not only to provide fun and entertainment but also to participate in the activities particularly in the ceremonial filing of 2010 income tax returns.
This event is also a tax campaign spearheaded by BIR Regional Director of Quezon City Nestor Valeroso with the support of Revenue District Officer Edgar B. Tolentino and other Revenue District Officers. They are reminding the public about early filing of income tax returns. Deadline is April 15 without extension.
