Local bets rule Lions Club footrace
CEBU, Philippines - Revoden Aranas and Aiza Suwaybaguio capitalized on the absence of seasoned runners to take their first ever titles in the 10km action through the 1st Diamond Lions Club Run yesterday at the Sumilo Road in Cebu Business Park.
Aranas defeated fellow upcoming runner Reprinel Banzon to clinch the top post in the men's division with a 33:13.06 clocking.
Banzon finished in 34:01.43, while Ian Bernido landed third with the time of 35:53.86.
In the distaff side, Suwaybaguio completed the lung-busting race in 43 minutes and 24.99 seconds. Jennifer Bellocura trailed Suwaybaguio in 44:58.68, while Rose Baylon wound up third in 48:28.
In the masters A class, Tomas Nunez Jr. emerged as the fastest with 39:01.52, while the masters B crown went to Ruth Banzon with the time of 39:21.26.
In the 5km run, Jorry Ycong bagged the top spot in the men's bracket in 17:12.90, Mary Joy Tabal ruled in the women's side with a 2:00.15 clocking.
Prince Joey Lee, on the other hand, snatched the 3km title with the time of 12:31.73.
Jommel Edar ended up second in 15:30.30, while Brett Tabanas placed third in 17:23.71.
In the girls side, the top three spots were occupied by Bea Beronia (16:23.97), Miriam Potot (30:28.98) and Amanda Macariola (31:53.56). – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
