The Ramboys of Estong Rama dumped the Tigers, 105-91, in the Guadalupe Athletic Association (GAA) 9th Founder’s Cup basketball tournament at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.
The 2-3 Ramboys were led by Jun Verano with 26 points, while Sign Post was topped by Nido Mercader with 17 points.
In the other games, Team Melo scored an upset of Agencia Grande, 84-76, G & S International streaked past J-Art, 88-86, while Sign Post Advertising nosed out Pan Borikat, 75-70.
Melo took an early 22-12 lead, but Agencia Grande rallied back behind the efforts of former USJ-R playmaker Allan Ricaña to wrest the driver’s seat, 70-69, in the final three minutes of the contest.
All of a sudden, Rico Ocampo played like a man possessed as he went on a 15-point binge to vault Melo to victory. Ocampo finished with a tournament-high 32 points, while Armstrong Fernandez and Boy Mendoza banged in 6 and 13 points, respectively.
Benjie Capili paced Agencia Grande with 21 points followed by Edwin Sormillon with 19 and Ricaña with 10.
On the other hand, the G & S triumvirate of Jumie Ararao, Rony Bacalla and William Jabines took advantage on the undermanned J-Art of Jimbo Noel, whose 39-point explosion went for naught.
Ararao, an ex-CIT Wildkitten, topscored for G & S with 17 points, Bacalla had 15, while Jabines donated 14 markers.
