CEBU, Philippines — The last tranche of regular financial aid for seniors from the Cebu City government this year had been moved to December 5, two days ahead of Mayor Raymond Garcia’s announcement earlier.

The city’s PIO page announced yesterday that instead of December 7, the distribution of the seniors’ cash assistance will begin on the 5th of the said month in different barangays here.

Each qualified senior is set to get ?3,000 as the latest distribution will include the months of October, November and December.

For bedridden seniors or those facing difficulties going to the venue, the concerned individual or a family member can inform the disbursing officers so they can personally hand over the cash assistance in their respective houses.

For those who will have problems in claiming their aid, they can also go to the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) for the needed assistance.

Meanwhile, OSCA’s current executive director, Chito Aragon, told seniors here to register with the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) to be able to enjoy benefits from the national government.

Aragon said the registration can be done online.

Registration with the NCSC will be needed as assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development will already be coursed through the said commission soon.

Gender and Development focal persons in the barangays have already been trained by the NCSC regarding the registration process for them to be able to assist the seniors here, especially for those without gadgets and internet access.

Aragon also said that there will be a revalidation of registered senior citizens here next year together with the issuance of a new ID. — (FREEMAN)
