CEBU, Philippines —  Senator Bong Go led another groundbreaking of a Super Health Center, this time in Carcar City.

The senator, whose motto “Bisyo ko ang magserbisyo,” said that the establishment of a Super Health Center would eventually help decongest public hospitals in Cebu.

Go, during the groundbreaking, said that the Super Health Centers that can now be found all over the country is seen to help the public during checkups and hospitalizations for free.

He said that Super Health Centers provide various medical services such as database management, outpatient care, birthing, isolation, and diagnostic services like x-ray and ultrasound.

They also offer pharmacy and ambulatory surgical units, as well as additional services such as EENT, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation, and telemedicine, which allows for remote diagnosis and treatment of patients.

After the groundbreaking, Go proceeded to the giving of financial assistance to 1,936 beneficiaries waiting for him at Carcar City Central Elementary School gymnasium.

The almost 2,000 individuals received P3,000 each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“Pasalamat mi ni mayor ug senator nga naapil mi sa makadawat sa P3,000 nga ayuda. Dako na ning tabang namo. Ako ning idugang nga kapital sa akong gamay nga tinda,” said a solo parent.

Another beneficiary, a tricycle driver, said for somebody who earned P300 to P400 a day, the P3,000 financial assistance is already a big help.

For his third event, the senator visited Carcar City Public Market for a project visit and went to the Malasakit Center of Carcar City for a monitoring visit.

Cebu has seven Malasakit Centers and since it was first established in 2018 at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center it has benefitted over seven million poor and indigent Filipinos in their hospital bills and medical needs.

Aside from VSMMC, the other six Malasakit Centers in Cebu are situated at the Cebu City Medical Center, St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital in Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital in Lapu-Lapu City, Eversley Childs Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue City, Cebu South Medical Center in Talisay City, and Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City.

The senator was accompanied by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Carcar City Mayor Mario Patricio “Patrick” Barcenas, Cebu First District Representative Rhea Gullas, former Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino and some local officials in visit in Carcar City.

Go also led the distribution of P3,000 worth of financial assistance to 2,000 beneficiaries in the City of Naga.  — LPM (FREEMAN)
