CEBU, Philippines – The defense panel in the murder case against SPO1 Adonis Dumpit yesterday presented an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation as hostile witness.
Defense lawyer Pedro Leslie Salva presented Special Investigator Arnel Pura to test the credibility of the NBI investigation which found sufficient evidence to charge the police officer of murder for the death of suspected robber Ron-ron Go in 2004.
Pura stood by their findings that there was no shootout between Dumpit and Go when the latter was killed in December 14, 2004. Dumpit claimed self-defense in killing Go.
Dumpit said it was a legitimate shootout claiming that Go was a robbery suspect he was pursuing after having been identified by robbery victim.
However, the NBI findings proved otherwise prompting the filing of the murder case in court. But Salva questioned the accuracy of the investigation conducted by the NBI.
Dumpit has been detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headquarters while working for the court to grant him bail.
Dumpit's bid to post bail was recently denied by Regional Trial Court Judge Ester Veloso. (FREEMAN)
