Comendador to stay; Valmoria ready to go

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Police Office director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador received a six-month extension of his term after city officials said they still do not have any prospective replacements for him.

Comendador said he received his marching orders last March 27 and was supposed to be transferred to the Police Regional Office-7.

This extension, however, is not yet definite as it also depends on PRO-7 how long he will remain. Comendador said he will accept any position the PRO-7 shall offer him.

“Wa’y problema bisan asa,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cebu Provincial Police Office chief Sr. Supt. Carmelo Valmoria, has already packed his things and is ready for his next assignment in Camp Crame as chief of staff of the Police Community Relations.

He said it will be a big assignment and he looks forward to the challenges.

Before leaving his position Valmoria visited Governor Gwen Garcia to give his formal leave and thank her for her support to the provincial police.

He said that during his term he was able to reduce crime and dismantle the rebel front committees of the province.

The PNP has a policy that a police chief or director would have to relinquish his post after serving exactly two years in a city or province.

PRO-7 chief of staff Sr. Supt. Vicente Loot visited Garcia’s office last Monday morning to submit the names of probable replacements for Valmoria. Two of the three are Cebuanos.

They are Sr. Supt. Jesus Gacquing and Sr. Supt. Dennis Siervo.  The third is Sr. Supt. Ricky Nerbes.

Gacquing is the head of Regional Mobile Group-7 while Siervo heads the Highway Patrol Group of the National Capital Region.

Garcia said she does not want Valmoria to be replaced if there is no vacant position for him in PRO-7. She said nobody can push her to select a nominee.

The governor wants Valmoria to be the first CPPO chief to hold office at the new CPPO building, which is almost complete.

Valmoria was the chief of the Regional Operations and Plans Division before he assumed as CPPO chief in January 2007.

Last April 13, Loot said that Camp Crame already ordered the relief of Valmoria, but a case filed against him by an arrested rebel leader delayed the implementation of the order. – Niña G. Sumacot and Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/BRP   (THE FREEMAN)
