Man killed in road accident in Carmen

CEBU - A man was killed while his companion was injured after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a mini-bus along the national highway in barangay Luyang, Carmen town, last Monday around 4 p.m.

Rodulfo Vargas, of Bacolod, Negros Occidental, was declared dead on arrival in the hospital while his companion Danilo Arnella, of barangay Pacnaan, Mandaue City, sustained injuries to different parts of his body.

Investigators said that Vargas was driving the Honda XRM motorcycle with plate number GE-6155 heading south at high speed.

Upon reaching a blind curve, Vargas lost control of the vehicle and hit the front right part of the mini-bus with plate number GVY-243. He and Arnella were sent sprawling to the asphalt.

The victims were rushed to the Danao City District Hospital for treatment but only Arnella survived. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

The mini-bus driver voluntarily surrendered to the police station while his vehicle is temporarily being held for disposition. –Bentley Naire Luyong (CIT Masscom intern)/BRP   (THE FREEMAN)
