Man stabs girlfriend over ex-boyfriend

CEBU - Sweetness between the two lovers turned sour when a man stabbed his girlfriend in barangay Somosa, Tabogon town, last Sunday evening at around 8:00 p.m. after an argument.

SPO2 Jonalito Saladaga, of Tabogon police said the victim was a certain Richel Mabaquieo, 20, of barangay Antique and temporarily residing in barangay Manlagtang of the said town, while the suspect was Ricky Alivio, 27, a resident of barangay Somosa place.

Saladaga said the two just finished having dinner in the house of Alivio and were walking to the girl’s house before the incident.

In the course of their conversation the girl started talking about his ex-boyfriend and this was quickly followed by an argument between the two.

Alivio then became so incensed he grabbed a knife and stabbed his girlfriend several times and left her bleeding on the road.

The victim was immediately rushed by concerned bystanders to the Bogo District Hospital but she was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center because of the serious injuries she sustained.

Meanwhile, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to his neighbor, Tabogon municipal councilor Benjamin Neis, who then brought him to the police station.

Saladaga said the suspect regretted what he did to his girlfriend whom he claimed to love above all.
