CEBU - Kugi Uswag Sugbo (KUSUG) still has no candidate for mayor in the next elections as former mayor Alvin Garcia said he is no longer interested in running for the position.
Although the opposition party has still not discussed the issue, Garcia said possible contenders include Lahug barangay captain Mary Ann de Los Reyes, former Cebu City Sports commissioner Jonathan Guardo and former Cebu City councilor Aven Piramide.
“Opposition is still alive,” Garcia said.
Garcia also did not yet affirm rumors that Cebu City south dist. Rep. Antonio Cuenco made arrangements with the opposition to support Guardo if ever the latter runs.
He further said that he heard that Cuenco express resentment towards Mayor Tomas Osmeña after the mayor allegedly insulted the congressman’s wife when they met at the oath taking of the barangay captains in the south district and the mayor said she had not been invited to the event.
“Wa pa gyud mi nag storya. Si Tony Cuenco dako gyud ning pagmahay kay Tomas Osmeña. Kay si Tony Cuenco miingon, ‘dili unta ko masakit kung iya ko insultuhan, apan kaning lugar ug akong asawa’,” Garcia explained.
Regarding rumors that Vice Mayor Michael Rama might join KUSUG, Garcia said Michael Rama should realize that the administration has not been valuing his services.
“Politics is addition, it may have been that Mary Ann and the rest of the opposition has had contacts with Rama nga wa pa nila igstorya nako, I don’t know but…kung ako si Mike, makig storya ko sa akong mga kontra oi. Kay duna koy mas labi pa nga kontra nga wa mohatag ug balor sa akong serbisyo. Politics is addition, kung what position, wa ta kahibaw,” Garcia said. — Cressida Paula G. Delmo/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
