A septuagenarian died after he was ran over by a speeding bus in Carcar town while a multicab driver was shot to death by his passenger in Naga town the other day.
In Carcar, a 76-year-old man died on the spot when a speeding bus ran him over along the national highway in sitio Tapul in barangay Guadalupe Saturday evening.
Lorenzo Cañaza, a resident of the place, was walking his way home after buying something from a store when the bus, marked Chan Transit, hit him and ran over his body.
The bus driver, identified as Rodolfo Alledo of barangay Gibuangan in Barili town, drove off to the Barili Police Station to surrender. He said he had to leave the scene for fear that the residents there might gang up on him.
Carcar police investigators said the bus came from Cebu City and was on its way to Barili when the accident happened. PO3 Reynaldo Fuentes said the police are set to file charges against Alledo today.
In Naga, a multicab driver was gunned down by his passenger while they were traveling along barangay Northern Poblacion Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Lito Batismo, a resident of barangay Lagtang, but the gunman reportedly escaped on a motorcycle that was tailing them moments before the shooting.
Naga police investigators said Batismo was driving his passenger multicab when his passenger, seated beside him on the front seat, drew a gun and fired at him.
Batismo sustained three gunshot wounds in his head and never made it to the Minglanilla District Hospital alive.
Policemen said the gun used in the killing was a .9mm caliber pistol and that they are still looking into the identity of the killer and the motive of the killing. — Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
