Columnist-radioman nominated for Talisay Charter Day awards

A retired general is endorsing The FREEMAN columnist and ABS-CBN news anchor for a citation when Talisay City marks its 5th Charter Day on January next year.

Ret. General Santos Gabison Jr. yesterday endorsed his letter of nomination to Mayor Socrates Fernandez recommending that Leo Lastimosa, who hails from the city, be given recognition.

This year, Lastimosa received a Golden Dove Award from the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas for being one of the best newscasters nationwide.

His program "TV Patrol Central Visayas" was also voted Best News Program by the Catholic Mass Media Awards. Lastimosa also anchors the radio program Arangkada aired over dyAB of ABS-CBN.

"Sa iyang programa sa radyo, dili nato ikalimod nga daghan kaayo ang iyang tigpaminaw dili lamang dinhi sa Sugbo kun dili sa tibuok Visayas ug Mindanao," Gabison said, adding that Lastimosa's public service gives honor to Talisay City and that he deserves recognition from the city.

Talisay is the fourth component city in the province of Cebu. It became a city in January 12, 2001 by virtue of Republic Act 8979. - Garry B. Lao
