This was after acting city police director Melvin Gayotin ordered Labra to focus on pursuing notorious members of both fraternities who have been giving the police a headache in terms of peace and order.
Leading the name of targets are suspected Akrho triggermen Aristotle Aves and Sonny Dela Cruz, as well as their rumored counterparts in Tau Gamma Ericson Pastorfide and Dino Arriesgado.
Labra said Task Force Aves, manned by Vice Control Section chief George Ylanan which was created to pursue Aves, will just be augmented with CIIB operatives to make it stronger.
Pastorfide was tagged as responsible for shooting dead a suspected Akrho member in barangay Sambag I while Arriesgado allegedly killed another Akrho member along Aznar Road last month.
Both Arriesgado and Pastorfide are at large. The latest information gathered by police is that Arriesgado is still in Cebu while Pastorfide has fled either to Siquijor or Bohol, or is with his family in Tarlac.
Dela Cruz' surfaced in previous investigations as the alleged cohort of Aves in various shooting incidents perpetrated in barangays Duljo-Fatima and Sawang Calero in the past.
Of them all, Aves was the only one whose notoriety prompted the creation of a task force last March.
While latest intelligence reports claim he already fled Cebu, others still insist he is just in the city being protected by influential people.
Records at the Homicide Section reveal that Ares has been implicated to a string of cases ranging from murder to frustrated murder from January 12, 2004 up to January 7 this year.
Meanwhile Labra plans to meet with the leaders of both fraternities to discuss about the latest violence involving both groups. He said a data bank for all fraternity members to trace erring ones is not feasible yet as it would need P200,000 as every member must spend P40 for background checking and documentation. - Ryan P.
