Cebu-based Peemayers honor new Army chief

Graduates of the Philippine Military Academy and former cadets of the institution gathered last May 10 for a testimonial dinner at the Bondad Hall of Camp Lapu-Lapu to honor Lt. Gen. Victor S. Ibrado, who was recently named as chief of the Philippine Army.

Ibrado, a member of PMA class of 1976, assumed as commander of the Central Command based in Cebu on August last year.

The native of San Jose, Antique, who will be moving on to a higher position, got a big send off not only from his underclassmen, but also from senior members of the Cavalier community in Cebu.

Col. Dominador Tenazas of class 1945 was the most senior among those present.  One of his sons is a classmate of Gen. Ibrado in the PMA.

Other senior Cavaliers present were the legendary Gen. Emil Luga and his singing mistah. Chappy Guevarra, the recipient of the athletic saber of class 1954.  From class 1957 there were Gen. Benjamin Cruz and Gen. Isagani de los Santos.

Gen. Victor U. Garcia, who is now with the Metro Gaisano Group, was also present and rendered a song in honor of his tokayo.

It was a night of boodling(eating) and bolahizing (conversation and fellowship) for about 80 bugo-bugos (Peemayers).—Nimrod NL Quiñones
