Psalmstre expands export penetration in Middle East

CEBU, Philippines - Beauty care manufacturer Psalmstre Enterprises is expanding its export penetration, after its soap whitening products made a successful entry in the Middle East market, primarily hitting the Indian and Arab nationals.

Psalmstre, the maker of New Placenta whitening soap products in the Philippines, is now planning to take advantage the increasing consumer base for whitening products in India, as it already inked formal partnership with an Indian distributor.

The company’s chief executive officer (CEO) Jaime Acosta told The Freeman over the weekend that the Philippine-made products for whitening is one of the most in-demand products in Middle Eastern countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Jeddah, and Qatar. Since, these countries have huge number of Indian workers Acosta said it is a good start for its plan to penetrate the Indian market.

Like the Philippine market, wherein whitening product is not only availed of by women consumers, but also a growing number of men, the trend he noted is the same, as Middle Eastern men are also now using beauty products, such as whitening soap.

Its planned entry to capture the over a billion population in India, has already started, as the company already inked a partnership agreement with an Indian distributor.

“It’s not difficult for us to enter India, because we have existing business linkage in this country. For our food supplement business, we get our raw materials from India, since they are good when it comes to herbal medicine,” Acosta said.

While the Philippine market is flooded with different brands in skin whitening, New Placenta soap in different variants managed to perform double-digit growth, although it’s fast growing export trade boosted the growth last year.

“The entry of new whitening products in the Philippines is certainly a threat [to us], but our advantage is our name. We have already established our brand in the Philippines, being the pioneer in the Placenta soap whitening products,” Acosta said.

Because of the efficacy of Placenta whitening ingredient in bath soap, Acosta said “we are doing good in Middle East. Even Arabs are now using Placenta.”

Now, on its 11th year, Acosta said Psalmstre continues to offer products that boost one’s wellbeing, not only for its beauty and whitening soap products, but also for its food supplement trading arm, which carries Liver Med, among others.

Also, Psalmstre aims to provide an opportunity for many to sell and market products for natural health and beauty products in the Visayas and in other parts of the country, including abroad.

Psalmstre's products include; New Placenta, Olive-C, and Glutamin. Aside from Middle East, its products are also now starting to gain market hold in other countries, like Spain, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Singapore.

Aside from India, the company is also currently working on expanding its market base in the United States, Canada and Europe, primarily hitting the Filipino Overseas Communities in these countries.

Acosta added that whitening beauty products is no longer limited to the Philippine market, but also in other continents, and India is now the most fertile ground for whitening products.— (FREEMAN)
